Spring Has Sprung!

The Girls on Speed have been having "bloomin'" great times this spring. Here are just a few reasons why our Blog has gone unattended for the last month...

1) The elder Girl on Speed and the "Music City Goddess" trained for months to complete the Derby Festival "Mini Marathon". Despite a late start, unseasonable heat, and some chafing of both the bronchial tubes AND a certain set of inner thighs, both Runner Grrrrrls finished the race & got the medals to prove it! Up next - a half marathon in Murfreesboro, TN (October). Next year its the Music City Marathon for one and the Music City "Half" for the other. Our prize for finishing should be "etched" in the flesh next weekend - so stay tuned!

2) It was the first Friday in May - so you know what that means??!! A feisty filly wins the Oaks and the feisty Girls on Speed host the 4th
Annual "Unstable Clown Party". Once again, the rain descended, but certainly didn't cramp our style. The original members of "One Track Mindz" serenaded party-goers despite the dampness. A pre-party visit by the one and only KYLE set the stage for a night filled with friends and festivities.

3) The Amazing Girl on Speed performed at the Spring Recital for Flying Hands School of Music. Kate managed to overcome uncharacteristic typecasting and performed "I Want It Now" - the song made popular by the ever-so-bratty Veruca Salt in Willy Wonka. Next up: audition prep where she'll be singing "Loathing" (from Wicked). What DOES her music teacher see in her???!! Grandmere made a surprise visit to Louisville to partake in the performance and....

4) ... to celebrate with the same Amazing Girl on Speed at her rock-n-rollin' birthday celebration on May 17th. Nearly 50 of Kate's closest friends and family members gathered for a skating party. In addition to MOUNDS of fun, Kate had her guests donate school supplies, soccer balls and reading books to her friends at the Kentucky Refugee Ministry. Yeah Kate!

5) As if this weren't enough, the Girls on Speed and their new favorite guy (Mr. Steve) traveled to Music City to visit Kristin and to reunite with the Nashville "Girl Posse". The reunion coincided with the high school graduation of Ms. Taylor Rouch (daughter of "T"). "Pasty" made it, but that "Galloway Chick" had other plans. Nevertheless, the Music City Goddesses have retained their radiance and didn't let ten measly years get in the way of a connection that spans time and space.

Photos follow - better pour yourself a tall one... this'll take some time!

And, hey, it's just May 27th - so ya never know what we'll post next!

Love to everyone who made this spring so bloomin' fun!!!!
